Cisco E1000 wont connect to internet anymore – not getting DHCP ip address from Comcast modem. When I connect the modem directly to the computer, it works. But not through the router.

I am having hard time setting up my E1000.
I can connect the computer directly to the modem and it works well. I have verizon DSL. When I connect the modem to the router and computer to the Ethernet port, it does not work. I tried changing the LAN IP address of E1000 and also tried PPPoE setting but nothing works.

Cisco connect guest network is not working. I had been trying to get my friend’s laptop on the guest network but he can not access Internet when connected to Guest but it works on main wireless. It seems that guest is working. I have installed the software and all the other computers and other devices are working.

Failed to run the installation CD. My wired PC is old and running windows XP. The Cisco connect software does not support the operating system and I don’t want to upgrade it now. I have a laptop which is running on Windows 7 but I want it wireless and not wired to the router. I just got E2000 from my friend who was using it and upgraded to a new one. I want to use guest access also. Can I install the Cisco software on the laptop and then use it wireless? I got this model because it has Guest network but if I can’t use it then it is of no use for me. I read that I can not use Guest feature without installing Cisco software. What are my options.

Thanks for your help. I was trying to reinstall Linksys E2000 setup. It was working before but I tried changing some settings using Cisco connect software and I don’t know what I did and I lost Internet on all the computers. I did not have Installation CD and I was not able to access the setup page because I didn’t know Linksys E2000 default password. I did reset it and reconfigured it without Linksys E2000 manual. Your guide is very helpful. I also upgarded the firmware for better wireless connection.

How do I upgrade firmware on my cisco Linksys E2000 ? Where is a Linksys e2000 manual for setup. I am trying to reconfigure it. I can open the settings page using Linksys E2000 default password but I am not able to make any changes in the settings. When I click on Save settings. nothing happens. I think I need to upgrade firmware of my E2000.

I was trying Linksys E2000 manual setup without the cisco connect software. But I could not connect to the guest network. The main wireless is working but not the guest. It does not ask for the guest password.

I was looking for some information about Linksys E2000 manual setup. I have been using this router for a long time but I accidently hit the reset button on my Linksys box and lost all the settings. I did not have CD for Linksys E2000 setup . I was looking for Linksys E2000 default password. Thanks for your help. Your technician was very good and helped me through installation without CD.

Every time i try to connect to cisco its tells me I only have 1 computer and it is a DELL laptop do i have to have a home desktop computer in order to setup the E3000 will the laptop have to be the home computer…..will i be able to disconnect it from the e3000 and use its wifi or will it lose connection ?

I just bought the Linksys E1000 and set it up with Comcast… I have the 16Mbps package from Comcast, yet when I go check my internet speed I’m only getting an avg of 5.5Mbps. Had Comcast out and they checked my computer hooked directly to the modem and was seeing 18 – 19 Mbps. Put back on the router and it’s back to 5.5 – 6.2 Mbps. Comcast left saying it’s a cisco issue and they can’t help me. Any ideas what I can do to fix this?

I have E3000 which I was not able to setup using CD. It has passed its warranty period. Your technician helped me to setup my e3000 router manually. It was very easy. I was trying to find the default password for my cisco E3000. I tried to reset and reconfigure it using CD. but it is asking me for the password. I think the it is not resetted properly. How can I setup E3000 manually.

I purchased a new HP wireless printer. It seems like the printer and my PC are on different IP addresses. Is that possible? My PC won’t recognize my printer. The printer is set up and recognizes the wireless signal. Could it be the linksys E1000? Pls i have a USB modem. How can I used it with my Cisco E1000 so that i can route the internet through my Modem?.
Pls help me with the setup

I’m having trouble with our Linksys e1000. Whenever it’s hooked up, all of the lights go on and it won’t send a signal. We’ve tried hitting the reset button on the back, but it didn’t work. Is there something wrong with the E1000? If not, how can we fix it? My Cisco E1000 wireless is not working. I reset the Linksys E1000 many times. Also tried to upgrade the firmware. well i want to play my xbox 360 online and my 360 searches for Cisco E3000 and it does find the E3000 but i cant connect to it. it asks me to type in the WAP2key idk were to find that key??? i need help finding it? heck idk what that WAP2 key means. My Linksys E3000 was working properly for 6 months. All of a sudden I was not able to access the Internet through my E3000. I could not find instructions to make it working again. Finally got it connected using your steps… Really good information….

Setup new E2000. All was fine and working nicely. Suddenly, cannot find page etc. In other words cannot reach internet. Did all the usual things like unplugging, waiting and connecting again – but nothing. Finally, take the yellow cable (internet cable) out of and plug into computer where the blue cable should be – thus bypassing the E2000. All works again while on main system. Then took yellow cable out of computer and back into E2000, and plugged blue cable back into DELL computer – everything works. Do not ask me why. All is well for a day or less, then same procedure. Now I am on internet but not through E2000. Could someone please tell me what I am doing wrong and I would really appreciate it. Using XP. We have a Cisco E2000 but during a move we have misplaced the password. Can we reset up with a new password? We do have computer connected with the wireless connection. Can we retrieve the password from it?

I just upgraded to a new linksys E3000 (from an old WRT54G) and now getting very slow download speeds (below 1mbps) from my Comcast modem. When connected directly to the modem I get 22 – 28 mbps. This is a wired connection to the modem/router. All other wireless devices seem to be running fine.

I connected my new E3000 to my cable modem and then to my new Toshiba laptop. I inserted the cd and it started to run the setup but when it was around 70% to 80% the setup stopped and this message appeared “your router was not successfully setup”. I tried it several times with the same results. The file downloaded from cisco didn’t work either. I was able to setup E3000 manually but I wasn’t able to install the cisco connect application. How can I do this?
