Like other Linksys wireless routers, you can install it manually. Open the setup page of EA6900 router using 192.168.1.1 and change the settings according to Internet service provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Is it Difficult? Connect the modem to Internet\/WAN port on Linksys router. So both computer and modem will be connected to the router with the Cables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"597\" height=\"268\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Linksys-router-setup.jpg\" alt=\"Linksys Router setup\" class=\"wp-image-1942\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Linksys-router-setup.jpg 597w, https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Linksys-router-setup-300x135.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 597px) 100vw, 597px\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Connections between router, computer and Modem<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>192.168.1.1 is the default IP address of Linksys EA6900 router. Open Internet browser and in the address bar type the number 192.168.1.1.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It will ask you for the user name and password. If this is a new router then try admin as password. Linksys EA6900 default password is <strong>admin<\/strong> , leave the user name blank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that does not work then you will need to <a href=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/how-to-reset-linksys-router\/\">reset linksys router<\/a> and it will come back to factory default settings. Then try admin default password again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are able to login then you will see the Linksys EA6900 setup page. On this page, you will see all the Internet connection settings for your router. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on &#8220;Internet Settings&#8221; tab at the top on this setup page. Now you need to change the settings according to your Internet service provider.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-cable-internet-service-provider\">Cable Internet service provider:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For Cable Internet service provider, Connection type will be &#8220;Automatic Configuration &#8211; DHCP&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click &#8220;Enable&#8221; For &#8220;MAC Address Clone&#8221;. Select &#8220;Clone My PC&#8217;s MAC&#8221;. Click Apply at the bottom. That&#8217;s it for Cable ISP.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-dsl-internet-service-provider-with-pppoe\">DSL Internet Service Provider with PPPoE:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>For DSL ISP with PPPoE connection type, change the Connection type to &#8220;PPPoE&#8221;.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter the PPPoE user name and password given by your ISP. Click Apply. That&#8217;s it for DSL with PPPoE connection.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-isp-with-static-ip-address\">ISP with Static IP address:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the connection type to &#8220;Static IP&#8221;. Enter the Static IP addresses given by ISP. Click Apply now.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-change-wireless-settings\">Change Wireless Settings.<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you are done with the Internet settings, you main computer will be able to access internet with wired connection. Now you need to change the wireless settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on Wireless tab in the Left Panel. There you will see 2 different wireless networks. 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz. So this router will give you 2 different wireless networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can Enable or Disable any one of them if required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the Network Name. I will suggest you to use different network names for both the wifi networks so that you can identify them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter the password for both the wifi networks. You can keep the same passwords for both the networks. Click on Apply at the bottom.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now go to your wireless computer and try to connect to the wifi network. You will see your newly created Wifi. It will ask you for the password. Enter the password and get connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-guest-network\">Guest Network:<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>This router has Guest network feature. Using Guest Network, you can give access to your Guests without entering them to your main Wifi network. So they will access internet through completely separate guest access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In the left panel, you will see the option &#8220;Guest Access&#8221;. Turn it ON. Edit the settings. Change the network name and password for guest access. Keep the name and password completely different from your main Wifi networks. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-text-align-center has-medium-font-size\"><strong>That&#8217;s it for the Linksys EA6900 setup. You can access Internet on both Wired and Wireless network.<\/strong> <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now lets move on to Smart setup using installation program.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-linksys-ea6900-setup-using-smart-setup-wizard\">Linksys EA6900 setup using <strong>S<\/strong>mart Setup Wizard<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Smart Setup is embedded in the firmware of Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers, EA6200, EA6300, EA6400, EA6700 and EA6900.\u00a0 It allows you to run setup from a web browser. \u00a0Setting up the <strong>Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router<\/strong> is made easy using the <strong>Smart Setup<\/strong>.\u00a0 The <strong>Smart Setup Wizard<\/strong> is embedded in the firmware and is available even if the router does not have an Internet connection yet and the router is on factory settings. Smart Setup benefits:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>You will not need a Setup CD or downloaded software to set up the router.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>You also have the option to bypass the wizard and directly access the router\u2019s interface instead. <strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp;&nbsp;The CD included in the packaging <strong>does not contain<\/strong> any setup software.&nbsp; It only contains your router\u2019s documentation. To learn how to set up the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Routers using Smart Setup, click <a rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"http:\/\/kb.linksys.com\/Linksys\/ukp.aspx?pid=80&amp;vw=1&amp;articleid=28840\" target=\"_blank\">here<\/a>. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-important\"><strong>IMPORTANT<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>PPPoE users must enter \u201clinksyssmartwifi.com\u201d or \u201c192.168.1.1\u201d on a web browser. You may not be automatically redirected to the Smart Setup wizard.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-linksys-ea6900-firmware-upgrade\">Linksys EA6900 firmware upgrade<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>You can download the Linksys EA6900 manual from Linksys website.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-upgrade-firmware\">How to upgrade firmware:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The best way to upgrade firmware is to do it automatically.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Login to Linksys EA6900 setup page. Go to &#8220;Connectivity&#8221; tab in the left panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There you will see the option &#8220;Router Firmware update&#8221;. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Select the option &#8220;Automatic&#8221; and click the button &#8220;Check for updates&#8221;. It will then start looking for firmware update. If there is any update then it will do it automatically. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also upgrade firmware manually. Download the latest firmware file  from Linksys website. Save it on your computer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Make sure that your computer is connected with the Ethernet cable. On the setup page firmware update &#8220;Manual&#8221;. Click on &#8220;Choose File&#8221;. Browse the firmware file that your have downloaded on the computer. Click Start and it will start the firmware update process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-how-to-reset-linksys-ea6900-router\">How to reset Linksys EA6900 router:<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>There is small reset button the router. Press and hold it down for 10 to 15 seconds. The power light will start blinking or flashing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Release the reset button. Wait for 10 seconds. Unplug the power to the router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wait for 30 seconds. Plugin the power cable. Wait for 30 seconds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Done! This is how you reset Linksys EA6900 router. Remember, when you reset the router, it comes back to factory default settings and you need to reconfigure it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-linksys-ea6900-default-password\">Linksys EA6900 default password<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The default IP address is 192.168.1.1 . This is the number, you need to type in the address bar to open the setup page. It is password protected. The Linksys EA6900 default password is <strong>admin<\/strong> , leave the user name blank.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If that does not work then you might have changed the default password to something different while setting it up. Try some of the common passwords that you think you might have changed to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If nothing works then you will need to reset the router to factory default settings and re-configure it from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Remember, the router password is different than Wireless network password. if you are trying to connect to the WiFi network and it is asking you for the password then it is not router password. It is Wifi password that you need to enter to connect to Wifi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Wireless network password and router password, both are different. Just make sure which one are you looking for.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-about-ea6900-router\">About EA6900 router<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The <strong>Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router AC1900 (EA6900)<\/strong> is a simultaneous dual-band 3&#215;3 Gigabit router.
