Connecting the Linksys EA9500 router to your modem, accessing the router&#8217;s setup page via a web browser, and following the guided setup process are all steps in the setup process. Change the Internet connection settings and Wireless network settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Smart setup wizard:<\/strong> Setting up the Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router is made easy using the Smart  Setup Wizard. Connect your main \ncomputer directly to the modem. Make sure that your main computer is \nable to access Internet directly through the modem. If you are not able \nto access internet directly through the modem then contact your service \nprovider and get your modem working first.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-2-make-connections\">Step 2: Make connections<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect the computer and modem to the Linksys EA9500 router with the  Ethernet cable. Connect the modem to the Internet port (WAN) and computer to one of the 4 Ethernet ports. You will see 4 lights lit up on the router, Power, WAN, wireless and Ethernet.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/Linksys-router-setup.jpg\" alt=\"Router - Modem - Computer connection\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-3-open-setup-page\">Step 3: Open setup page<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Open browser and in the address bar type the number <a href=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/192-168-1-1\/\">192.168.1.1<\/a> . This  is the default IP address of almost all the models of Linksys Routers.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/access-router.jpg\" alt=\"Linksys EA9500 setup - router password\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter your Router Password then click Log in. The default password is  <strong>admin<\/strong>. If you have changed it, enter the new password instead. If the  default password is not working then you can reset the device to the  factory default. Press and hold the reset button for 10 seconds. Release  the reset button and wait for 30 seconds. Power cycle the router. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Now you will see the Linksys EA9500 setup page<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-4-change-internet-connection-settings\">Step 4: Change Internet connection settings<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on &#8220;<strong>Connectivity<\/strong>&#8221; tab in the left panel under router settings section. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click On Internet settings tab at the top.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now according to your internet service provider, you can change the Internet settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Please check the images below for appropriate Internet service provider  settings. There will be 2 types of ISPs. Cable ISP and DSL ISP. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Cable ISP<\/strong> , you need to clone the MAC address of your computer, as shows in the image below. Then power cycle the network. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/router-setup-for-Cable-Internet-service-provider.jpg\" alt=\"Cable ISP settings\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>DSL ISP<\/strong>, you need to enter the PPPoE user name and password as shown in the image below. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/router-setup-for-DSL-Internet-service-provider.jpg\" alt=\"DSL connection settings\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you change the Internet connections, you wired computer will be able to access the Internet through the EA9500 . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-5-wireless-network-settings\">Step 5: Wireless network settings.<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your wired computer is online and now you will need to create wireless network for your wireless devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on &#8220;<strong>Wireless<\/strong>&#8221; tab in the left panel of the setup page.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This is a Tri-band wireless router. So you will see 3 different wireless networks &#8211; 2.4 GHZ, 5 GHZ1 and 5 GHZ2.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Now you can change the wireless network settings for all the 3 Wifi networks. SSID will be the name of wireless network. Set different SSIDs for different networks so that you can differentiate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can keep the same password for all the 3 networks.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can also Turn OFF individual WiFi network if not required.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"629\" height=\"585\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/tri-band-wifi-settings.jpg\" alt=\"Linksys EA9500 Tri-band wireless network settings\" class=\"wp-image-2538\" srcset=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/tri-band-wifi-settings.jpg 629w, https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/06\/tri-band-wifi-settings-300x279.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 629px) 100vw, 629px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-6-connect-to-wireless-network\">Step 6: Connect to Wireless network<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>Your wireless network is ready. Now you can try to connect to the WiFi network on your wireless computers, laptop or mobile devices.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You will see the newly created Wifi network. Select the required network and try to connect. It will ask you for the Network key or password. Enter the correct password and get connected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-step-7-create-guest-network-access\">Step 7: Create Guest Network access<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p> You can also create Guest network using this web interface. In the  left panel you will <strong>Guest Access<\/strong> option. Click on on Guest Access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Turn ON the Guest Access.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click on Edit &#8220;Guest Network names and passwords&#8221;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>You can create 2 different Guest networks &#8211; 2.4GHZ and 5 GHZ. If you want, you can also disable any one of them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Change the SSID and set the password for Guest access. Also set the maximum number of guests to be allowed to connect. Apply or save the changes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linksys EA9500 setup using Smart Setup Wizard:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The following requirements should be met to avoid any problems during the setup:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Browser requirements<\/strong> for the router setup and Linksys Smart Wi-Fi access:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Microsoft Edge\u2122<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Internet Explorer\u00ae 8 or higher<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Latest version of Chrome\u2122 and Firefox\u00ae<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Safari\u00ae (for Mac\u00ae or iPad\u00ae)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Latest Adobe Flash\u00ae Player?<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Materials for setup<\/strong> \u2013 You should have the following items:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Linksys Smart Wi-Fi Router<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>One (1)<\/strong> or <strong>two (2)<\/strong> Internet \/ Ethernet (RJ-45) cables<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A wireless computer or a computer with an Ethernet port<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Active Internet connection <\/strong>\u2013 To check if you are \nable to access the Internet, connect the modem to the computer using an \nEthernet cable as shown in the image below:<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 1: Make the connections.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Connect the computer to one of the 4 enternet ports and connect the Internet modem to the Internet\/WAN port on Linksys EA9500 router.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 2:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Launch your web browser and enter \u201chttp:\/\/linksyssmartwifi.com\u201d in the Address bar then press [Enter].<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 3:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Tick the checkbox beside I have read and accepted the License Terms for using this software then click Next to proceed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/fixhomenetwork.com\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/01\/linksys-smart-wifi-setup.png\" alt=\"Linksys EA9500 Smart Setup Wizard\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Smart Setup will now start to detect your Internet connection. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For <strong>Digital Subscriber Line (DSL)<\/strong>&nbsp;customers, the setup will prompt for a PPPoE <strong>Account name<\/strong> and <strong>Password<\/strong> from your Internet Service Provider (ISP).&nbsp; Enter the necessary information then click <strong>Next<\/strong> to continue. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>NOTE:<\/strong>&nbsp; Once an Internet connection is detected, your router will check for firmware updates. &nbsp;\n\n<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the Smart Setup screen does not show up, press the <strong>Reset <\/strong>button at the back of the router for <strong>10<\/strong> seconds, turn the router OFF and then turn it back ON. Wait a few seconds for the router to boot up and start at Step 1 again.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If no Internet connection is detected, the Your Internet cable is not  connected correctly window will appear. Follow the suggested  troubleshooting steps on the screen to resolve your connection problem  then click Next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Step 4: Wireless settings<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Enter your desired&nbsp;wireless <strong>Network Name<\/strong>&nbsp;and&nbsp;wireless <strong>Network Password.&nbsp; <\/strong>This will apply&nbsp;for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz networks&nbsp;in the fields provided and then click&nbsp;<strong>Next<\/strong>.&nbsp;  If you need to rename a unique wireless network name for your 5 GHz  network, you can do so after setup by logging into the web interface. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Click Next.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Create a router password and password hint and click&nbsp;<strong>Next<\/strong>.&nbsp;<br><br><strong>NOTE:&nbsp; <\/strong>This is your local admin router\u2019s password only. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to reset Linksys EA9500 router?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Before resetting EA9500 router, you must know one important thing. Once you reset the router, it will come back to factory default settings and you will lose all the settings of the router. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If your device is already working and configured, then try to avoid resetting it. However, if you are setting up the EA9500 for the first time or if you want to re-configure it then you can reset it.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>There is a small reset button on the BACK panel of EA9500.  Press and hold for approximately <strong>10 &#8211; 15 seconds<\/strong> until the illuminated Linksys logo turns OFF to reset the router to factory defaults. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Once done, unplug the power cable. Wait for 10 seconds. Plug the power cable back in. Wait for 30 seconds. Now reconfigure the device from scratch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Linksys EA9500 default password<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The default IP address for EA9500 is <strong>192.168.1.1<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p> The default password of EA9500 is <strong>admin<\/strong> . <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This default password will work only when the router is in factory default settings. If you have already installed the router using smart setup wizard, then you might have changed the router password.
