Attach the modem to the Internet port and computer to one of the 4 Ethernet ports on the Linksys router.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 2: Open Linksys E1200 setup page<\/h4>\n<p>Open the browser and in the address bar type 192.168.1.1. This is the default IP address of E1200 router. Open the Linksys E1200 setup page and start changing the settings manually.<\/p>\n<p>The Linksys E1200 default password is admin. If you are not able to open the setup page using default password then try some other passwords which you might have used while initial installation.<\/p>\n<p>If you are starting from the scratch and default password is not working,&nbsp; then reset the router. Remember that when you reset the router, it will come back to factory default settings.<\/p>\n<p>On the Linksys E1200 router, you will find a small reset button on the rear side.<\/p>\n<p>Press and hold it for 10 seconds. Release the reset button and unplug the power. Wait for 10 seconds. Plugin the power and wait for 30 seconds. Not try to open Linksys E1200 setup page.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 3: Change Internet connection settings<\/h4>\n<p>Once you open the web interface, you will be on the Main Admin page. There you will see Internet connection settings. Change the internet connection settings according to your ISP.<\/p>\n<p>For Cable Internet, you will need to clone the MAC address of the main computer.<\/p>\n<p>For DSL Internet service, you will need to change the connection type to PPPoE. Enter the PPPoE settings and save.<\/p>\n<p>Once you change the Internet connection settings, your main computer will be able to access Internet through E1200.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 4: Change the wireless network settings.<\/h4>\n<p>First of all change the name of the wireless network SSID. Secure your wireless network by changing the security settings. make sure that you have a password on the WiFi, otherwise anybody can access your network.<\/p>\n<h4>Step 5: Connect devices to the network<\/h4>\n<p>Now one by one, start connecting all the wireless computers and devices to the network. You can run Cisco connect software on wireless computer also. But I will recommend you to connect the computer to the Ethernet port to avoid error messages.<\/p>\n<p>Run the Cisco software and it will setup your wi-fi automatically. It will also create a unique secured wi-fi network and a Guest wireless network also. At the end of the program you will be able to see the router settings, network name and password, guest access password.<\/p>\n<p>You can also change the settings using Cisco connect software. Guest network is unsecured network and anyone can join the guest network. But no one can access the Internet without a password. That means there is a password for the Guest network also.<\/p>\n<p>You can manage guest settings of E1200 router using the Linksys router setup page also. So it is not necessary to install the Cisco connect software to manage guest network as it was the case with E1000, E2000 and E3000 wireless routers.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"features\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h3>About Linksys E1200 router<\/h3>\n<p>Overall Linksys E1200 router is a good entry level N router to buy.<\/p>\n<p>The E1200 is one step down from the E1500. E1200 is an E1500, but without the Speed Boost. Linksys E1200 router is designed to sit flat on a desk and doesn&#8217;t have mounting slots on the bottom for wall-hanging.<\/p>\n<p>The single Ethernet WAN and four switched Ethernet LAN ports are all 10\/100 mbps speed. E1200 does not have USB port for storage drive or printer sharing.<\/p>\n<p>Linksys E1200 is super-easy to use and affordable and makes a good entry-level Wireless-N router for home users. E1200 also does not support IPv6.<\/p>\n<h3>Here is the feature summary:<\/h3>\n<p>DHCP, Static, PPPoE, PPTP, L2TP, Telstra Cable WAN types<\/p>\n<p>DHCP server with MAC address reservation<\/p>\n<p>Built-in Dynamic DNS clients for TZO and DynDNS<\/p>\n<p>Single port forwarding and Port Range forwarding and triggered ports<\/p>\n<p>Access Restrictions with 10 deny or allow-based policies, each with its own list of clients and day\/time schedule<\/p>\n<p>Wireless Guest Access &#8211; Internet-only access with its own SSID, but no security except a common password for all guests and the ability to limit the number of guests from 1 to 10.<\/p>\n<p><a name=\"defaultpassword\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>What is Linksys E1200 default password?<\/h2>\n<p>This is the most common question asked about all the routers. Linksys E1200 default password is admin, leave the user name blank.<\/p>\n<p>But if you have installed the Cisco connect software to setup then Linksys E1200 default password must be changed. You can open the Cisco connect software and check the router settings.<\/p>\n<p>Your wireless network password will be the password to access the setup page.<\/p>\n<p>There are different types of passwords used in the network. DO not get confused with router password and wireless network password.<\/p>\n<p>Router password is required to open the settings page and make changes to network settings. it is not required mostly.<\/p>\n<p>If you are trying to connect to the wireless network and it is asking your for then password then it is wireless network key required to connect to Wifi.<\/p>\n<p>It is not router password. You can find the wireless network key on the settings page, under Wireless Tab.<br><a name=\"manualFirmware\"><\/a><\/p>\n<h2>Linksys E1200 Manual, Firmware and reset<\/h2>\n<p>Download Linksys E1200 router from Linksys website. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linksys.com\/us\/support-article?articleNum=148523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Click here<\/a> to download the manual.<\/p>\n<p>Also make sure that your E1200 is running on a latest firmware. Open the configuration page, go to status tab. Check the firmware version on the status page. If it is no new one then <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linksys.com\/us\/support-article?articleNum=148523\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">download the latest firmware for E1200&nbsp;<\/a> and upgrade it.<\/p>\n<p>While upgrading the firmware, make sure that your computer is connected to the device with the Ethernet cable. Do not upgrade firmware using wireless computer.<\/p>\n<h4>How to reset?<\/h4>\n<p>On the rear side of the device, there is a small reset button. Press and hold it for 10 to 15 seconds. Release the button and unplug the power cable. wait for 10 seconds. Plug in the power cable. Wait for 30 seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Once you reset the device, it will come back to factory default settings.
